When I managed to stop laughing I realized this was the greatest thing that has ever been posted to Substack. This should be the first page you reach whenever you click on a browser link anywhere on the internetz. It is revolutionary in that this is optimism in our era.

I am delighted to hear I caused you to sensibly chuckle.

The digital cavemen will leave reality to those who prefer it.

I apologise for posting optimism and it is a reckless thing to do.

Anyway if I am utterly mistaken there is always the carpal tunnel route.

I don't care if I am called a coward but my whole plan revolves around your carpal tunnel cure. I don't believe voting will save us and I don't believe any of the promises that all our wise men have been making to turn the situation around for the past 60 years since they shot Kennedy. It's like people playing with the dashboard of a station wagon they are chained up in as it rolls downhill towards a ravine. They're all convinced if they are allowed to play with the dials on the radio some more they can get us out of this. I'm getting out of this station wagon, good luck to all. I often say that people who think I am crazy for always planning my next blast shelter simply don't have enough information to know just how bad the situation is. Many thinkers since Kennedy have believed that the comintern/NWO would weaken us to the merest skeleton crew of degenerates before they truly finished us off with the munitions. I have watched that plan playing out my whole life and the people just noticing we are in a bit of a pickle I no longer take any counsel from. By the time we are 60 million left with no deterrent capacity to speak of, it will be serious time to prepare for a first strike. If for no other reason, all the diversifiers in the cities they have championed are destined to be cleaned out before they start moving their own people to our living space. If you don't survive that there is not much hope of you implementing other plans. I see this whole creation of the artificial pod people reality where all the best remaining people are in 15 minute cities on their 6 inch internet browser screens arguing over RINOS while they are awaiting processing to be the flag that the Russians and Chinese can glassine both coasts with hypersonic drones. It's almost mercy killing at that stage. They definitely will not be adopting any diversity pets of their own and will clear them out like noisome pests with the mother of all roach bombs.

Your carpal tunnel syndrome will be completely cured - that’s for sure.

I left the city over a year ago and will never go back.

Hear hear! This had occurred to me too. Digiworld matures into its inevitable, unnatural total-fake-and-gayness and only the NPCs will be able to keep pretending.

Should we be cautious in our optimism tho'? Many have said that when the state stopped enforcing the law, we'd all be in merry roving bands of vigilantes, enforcing it ourselves. Turns out, the po-po have ample time and resources to police that (italics), whilst they turn a blind eye to looters and graffiti-scrawlers. Noticing may remain against the law and t&cs. It may even be a hate crime to suggest that AI is not intelligent and does not have thoughts and feelings.

If I highlight the text of my comment and right-click, I can "translate to English". Let me know if this would be preferable.

Great stuff. The idea of the divide between "avid consumers of their own digital reflection, and the reality-based community" is brilliantly dramatized in THE CONGRESS (2013). Totally ignored on release. Remains criminally underseen.

I’ve never heard of that and will have a look. Thank you, unreadable glitchname.

Name is supposed to be my surname (Butterfield) raised to the fourth power. I inserted an exponent into my username when I sign up for Substack, but it seems as if that gave it a glitch lol

FYI: CONGRESS film is based on Stainslaw Lem's short little novel The Technological Congress. Which is quick read and a good book as well.

I came to the same conclusion when deepfakes started appearing. "This will destroy the news."

I share your optimism in the sense that I believe things will change because they must, and this is not the End of History. The doomers and their straight-line extrapolations of popsci understanding are generally retarded ("General AI is here!"). I don't share your optimism in the sense that I wouldn't refer to this as optimism so much as "regular history". Maybe it's from growing up with a dad who has thought the rapture was coming in two weeks every two weeks for 40 years without irony, it probably inured me to apocalyptic ideation. Anyway, I expect humanity will find a new steady state way to be awful, if only for the novelty, and baggy pants will return. And my third wife's black son will look back at this and wonder what we were all thinking.

No “news” is good news.

“The culture we inhabit is also transactional. It is a supermarketplace of ideas as well as identities. It is the opposite to relational - where your relation with other humans is the basis of your social reality.

“Transactional” means that most of your interactions with other people are some form of deal or another. “

I’m a forced retired doctor ( due to vax mandate) and this phrase struck home for me. When I started in practice 34 years ago, my job was transactional mostly. Over time , as it does in general practice, it became mostly relational, as I formed strong bonds with many( not all) of my patients. Now that I’ve been out of practice for almost 2 years, that is what I miss, not the job itself. The job drained me, the people refreshed me.

Who needs AI? The mainstream media has made the little children who were stabbed in Dublin completely disappear. Don't look back in anger? No need to look back at all - nothing happened [insert Orwell quote about who controls the past...].

Narrative adopters will make excuses for this and stop listening. The news cycle moves on, whataboutery and so on. Reality is hand-waved away.

What's the difference with AI news? It ALL becomes dubious, and Narrative Cope will intensify but seem more ridiculous than now to the people who haven't already worked out its partiality.

The second thing to note is it is NOT ALL ABOUT YOU Colin. It is also about me, and the campaign of harassment I am suffering at the hands of a pigeon fancier.

That's the cut and thrust of Substack. It's blonde pigeons, as my dad would say (fair dos).

I think we should have stopped AI development with Johnny 5 from Short Circuit. He was nice.

You may be aware that someone posted "live" footage from Gaza of IDF storming along some road littered with the detritus of war everywhere. This included several X-Wings and broken TIE fighters. I believe there may even have been the ruins of an Imperial Star Destroyer somewhere.

It was broadcast on Sky I am told.

My own take is the fakery will discredit news as you say. The mainstream is already dying and I believe their model is being superseded by a personalized social media approach.
