This is the introduction to my series on the return to reality in politics, policy and diplomacy. I believe this return is currently underway and here I explain why.
I begin today with a brief overview of the factional nature of power in the US Empire, and then examine the impact of the failure of Project Ukraine on the plans for digital governance.
In later posts I examine the effects of the other two death cults aside from the techno-futurists, whose plan it is to repattern mankind upon machines in every dimension of life.

We inhabit the consequences of a fantasy ideology. Nationally, internationally and economically our world is in disorder.
The answer is simple: a return to reality. What would this mean? Why is it necessary and how do we get there?
To answer these questions I have written a series on realism.
In it, I will show
The current crisis as the result of “unreality” in policy
The diplomatic, economic and national-local effects
The limits of Liberalism
And why and how a return to reality is on the way
Once I have provided the background material I will conclude the series with an interview I recently conducted with a leading realist. This man’s advice is likely to inform the posture of the incoming US administration, and will thereby help to shape the world.
This future is near, and it will be better. I will begin with explaining why I am so certain of the one thing which will expedite this welcome return to reality.
DONALD TRUMP IS GOING TO WIN
It is very unwise to make political predictions. This one is my attempt to beclown myself. I think it certain Trump will win - not because I want him to - and not only because he leads in six “battleground” US states beyond the margin of error.
Trump is going to win because empire is a business and the current administration is very bad for that.
I will explain this glib remark in detail in the following posts. The social, economic, diplomatic, strategic and military chaos amounts to a disaster, with the US suffering a dramatic loss in prestige over the last few years.
If you like Donald Trump, this is not an excuse to sit back and do nothing. That is the leisurely choice of Leaderism, whose dangers I explained here:
The current ruling faction is panicking, of course, but they have run the ship of state aground.
Trump will not be locked out of office by election tampering nor by the lawfare undertaken against him. Attacks on him personally have backfired, as has every other gambit undertaken by this catastrophic administration.
The management prefer Donald Trump to disaster. Yet the next Trump administration will be profoundly different to the last.
I will explain why, and why this is also a good thing, in the rest of the series.
THE ACTIONS OF FACTIONS
There are two schools of thought about the dire state of our civilisation. One is that collapse is the plan, and the other is that there is no overall coordination.
I do not believe mass society is completely dirigible. This means our global system cannot be controlled with total certainty by any one faction.
This is because
The system is too complex to control
Power is factional and not unitary
The Soviet Union suffered from the attempt to totally rationalise society. One “answer” to this problem of centralisation is to digitise governance, replacing human with computer control.
This is the remedy proposed by those who see in technology not only a superior means of organisation, but also that machines can provide material and spiritual salvation.
Yet the techno-futurists of Technianity are not the only faction vying for power.
Here follows a brief overview of the competing power blocs in the US empire.
THREE GODLESS CULTS
The three cults promising a better world - a utopia - are broadly
The World Economic Forum and other sects of “techno-futurism”
Soros’ Open Society Foundation and other “rights based” NGOs
Neoconservatives and Liberal Interventions - fanatical Liberal supremacists
The interests of these groups coincide but are not alike. There are three distinct visions of the future. I go into detail about these factions here:
I try to explain how these three powerful groups have contributed to and exploited the end of the Liberal idea. They are all adept at using the aspirational language of freedom, of justice and of exalted values in the service of evil.
Yet they are antagonists to one another. What is more, though powerful, they do not speak for the world. Their power is limited largely to the US Empire and its borderlands.
Secondly, the actions of these factions have produced a three dimensional catastrophe which has damaged their brands, perhaps terminally.
There is significant power and money outside these systems, whether in the West or without it. Here I will explain that empire is basically a business, and that these three factions are now proven to be very bad for business indeed.
Economic Reality
Ukraine is the site of a failed experiment. This utopian scheme had two elements serving the neoconservative and techno-futurist agendas:
To collapse Russia
To create a template for the digital state in Ukraine
Neither has worked out.
The plan was to “Overextend and Destabilise” Russia. Economic sanctions, diplomatic isolation and defeat on the battlefield would lead to regime change. Russia’s vast mineral resources would be the prize for the taking.
Digital Governance
Amidst the vast war effort by US/NATO, the Ukrainian state was to become a template for “digital governance” - as Minister for Digital Transformation Mikhailo Fedorov told the Atlantic Council in August 2023.
Whilst his Ministry of Digital Transformation was set up in 2019, it was the chaos of war, along with the suspension of political and media opposition, provided the perfect opportunity for this transformation.
The significance of this “transformation” is indicated by the suggestion that the Fedorov is likely to be the next Prime Minister of Ukraine. His powers have increased considerably under martial law, with even Ukrainian analysts noting their concern.
This has attracted concerns over corruption, even as Fedorov spoke two days ago at the All-Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Forum. The title of his speech continues this interplay of doublespeak with reality" - “Integrity is the Future of Ukrainian Statehood”.
A man with undemocratic powers forcing an agenda of total digital control speaks of integrity. It is arguable he has little himself, but what of the Ukrainian State?
How much “integrity” - or even a future - does Ukraine really have?
It is impossible to say what “Ukraine” will look like next year, let alone far into the digital utopia. The terms will be decided by Russia.
It is likely it will be a rump state with agreed neutrality. This would mean the funding behind many of Fedorov’s pet projects will evaporate.
The Ukrianian digital governance app is called DIAA. It was built with “US help”, meaning the regime change specialists at USAID under Samantha Power.
Power discussed this - and the plan to “export Ukraine’s e-governance app” at the 2023 World Economic Forum.
Fedorov is behind the new drive to build “an army of drones” in Ukraine. He has made use of Estonian-based Marduk Systems’ autonomous anti-drone Marduk Shark as a countermeasure.
How did this small Estonian company produce such an expensive and advanced electronic warfare platform? With EU funds. One factor costing 2 million euros was awarded 1.6 million from the European Regional Development Fund.
Two days Fedorov has announced the expansion of DIAA, the Ukrainian digital governance app, to “remove the human element” from certain customs and border checks. Which border will this check in future? Where will it be?
The practical realities of the war - that the US has lost - mean the app simply cannot be demonstrated as functional, much less “exported”.
The economic consequences of the war mean there will be far less EU money to dole out in any case - even if neutrality permitted the transfer of NATO weapons technology.
Summary: Ukraine has an uncertain future. It will not provide the template for digital governance as the conditions of losing the war will likely prevent this.
EUROPE - ECONOMIC SABOTAGE
The appetite for realism is growing stronger in Europe, whose economy has been wrecked by sabotage and sanctions undertaken to destabilise Russia.
In the next part I will examine the damage to European economies, and the political and diplomatic effects whose results are still developing.
The political effects are those on domestic policy, and the diplomatic effects are concern with state-level international relations.
Project Ukraine is a pivotal moment in history. It has been lost by the factions who invested so much in its success. This failure, I will argue, has such serious consequences as to make their schemes unviable.
Yet Project Ukraine is not the only ubangi in the pipeline for the cults of control.
The case for the return of reality is made practically everywhere. It is a demand that can no longer be ignored.
Why Trump is popular. Deals in reality more than the typical politician.
I know I am a month and a half late to the table, but about the three God-less cults you list; aren't their memberships made up of a large number of the same people? Are they just hedging their bets?
Maybe the answers are in the next installments.
